Government ‘not writing off’ summer holidays to Spain, Greece and US

Holidays to popular destinations including Spain, Greece and US could still be on the cards this summer as the Government is said to be “not writing anything off”.

Ministers are “looking at all the options” when it comes to lifting international travel restrictions, including dropping the current quarantine requirement for vaccinated travellers returning from amber-listed countries.

Government ‘not intending to open up travel to Europe or US before end of July’

Quarantine-free travel to the UK from mainland Europe or the US will not be permitted before late July, an industry expert has warned.

The reopening of travel had been “sacrificed by ministers watching their backs”, Paul Charles, chief executive of travel consultancy The PC Agency, said.

Government places ‘Do Not Travel’ advisories on 80% of world’s countries [Video]

The State Department this week revised its international travel guidance to mirror the science-based recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), giving approximately 80% of the world’s countries its highest and most severe Travel Advisory Level classification.

As of Tuesday, 153 countries worldwide carry a “Level 4: Do Not Travel” distinction; 40 are considered a “Level 3: Reconsider Travel”; 15 are “Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution”, and only one country — Bhutan — is currently considered a “Level 1: Exercise Normal Precautions.”
