Catalonia extends coronavirus restrictions as second wave looms

Catalonia has ordered the closure of nightclubs across the region amid fears of a second wave in Spain. 

Fresh restrictions are imposed for at least 15 days, with late-night bars shut and opening hours reduced for gambling halls, casinos and bingo halls.

Areas with the highest number of Covid-19 infections in recent days will also see opening hours cut for restaurants, bars and terraces.

Connecticut shoreline emerges as desired travel destination as coronavirus upends summer vacation plans

As airlines cancel summer flights to Europe and travelers decide against jaunts to states where COVID-19 cases are spiking, visitors appear to be choosing the Connecticut shoreline as an alternate destination for vacations and day trips.

Local tourism officials, restaurant owners and hotel operators in the area are reporting a more successful summer than originally predicted, considering the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic.

TUI, which resumes operations today, has announced it will cover the costs for medical tests, extended hotel stays and flights home for British holidaymakers if they catch Covid-19 while on a package holiday.
