CDC Adds Germany, Denmark to Highest Travel Warning Level As Europe’s COVID-19 Cases Continue to Rise

A pair of popular European destinations were placed on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s highest travel warning list, the latest European countries to be added to the advisory.

The agency is warning Americans to “avoid” traveling to Germany and Denmark amid rising coronavirus cases in the two countries. The CDC, which updates the list each week, classified both countries as “Level 4” destinations, indicating a “very high” level of COVID-19 transmission there.

The agency classifies destinations as “Level 4” if they are experiencing more than 500 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people over the last 28 days.

CDC says to ‘avoid travel’ to Barbados, Croatia due to COVID-19 cases

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s list of countries where Americans should avoid travel because of “very high” COVID-19 cases grew again Monday, with Barbados and Croatia the most notable additions.

Other countries raised to level 4, the agency’s highest travel health alert level: Austria, Armenia, Latvia and New Calendonia. All had been at level 3, which indicates case counts are “high.”

More than 80 countries are now on the ever-changing list of countries travelers should avoid, including Jamaica, Aruba, Belize, the United Kingdom, Greece and other popular tourist destinations.

Chicago Continues to Add States to Its Travel Advisory List As COVID-19 Cases Climb

Chicago added six more destinations to its travel advisory list on Tuesday as coronavirus cases continue to rise all around the country.

Georgia, Hawaii, Kentucky, South Carolina, Utah, and Puerto Rico were updated to the city’s “orange” advisory, bringing the total list up to 19 states and two territories. Destinations are added to the list if they surpass 15 cases per day, per 100,000 residents, according to the city.

Currently, the orange list includes Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Wyoming, Puerto Rico, and the U.S.
