‘A gold mine of Asian history and culture’
A tour of Asian cultural and historical sites in Stockton has helped some Bay Area high school students get closer to their roots.
On Thursday, University of the Pacific professor emeritus Richard Tenaza led a group of 10 students and three teachers from San Mateo’s Nueva High School on a tour featuring the Filipino Plaza, Nippon Hospital, Little Manila, and Wat Dhammararam Cambodian Buddhist Temple, among other historical sites.
“I feel more connected to my culture because of this tour,” Winston Li, a junior at Nueva School, said. “It was really cool and eye-opening to learn about the Asian Americans
