Travel advisory issued for London, Ont., area Thursday night

If there weren’t already enough reasons to stay at home, a snowstorm set to travel through southwestern Ontario has prompted Environment Canada to issue a winter weather travel advisory.

As forecasters call for a heavy snowfall in southwestern Ontario, Environment Canada is warning of rapidly deteriorating road conditions on Thursday night.

The advisory is for Thursday night and covers London, Komoka, Parkhill and Strathroy, along with eastern and western Middlesex County.

Snow is expected to touchdown near Windsor and Sarnia around 7 p.m. Thursday, before spreading

The Virginia State Police and Virginia Department of Transportation have issued a travel advisory for commercial truckers on Interstate 77 at the Virginia, North Carolina border.

The Fancy Gap area is experiencing sustained winds  of 35-40  mph with gusts up to 70  mph.   So far, four tractor-trailers have overturned there. 

The first big rig was blown over at 5:58 a.m. No one was hurt.

New Delhi: The Indian Embassy in Myanmar on Tuesday asked all citizens to avoid travel and take precautions while visiting the country in view of the recent military coup and possible unrest. Myanmar has appointed Myint Swe, the army-appointed vice president, as the new leader of the country after the military arrested civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other political leaders.

“In view of the recent developments in Myanmar, all Indian citizens are required to take due precautions and avoid unnecessary travel.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY| Snow & Refreeze On Roads For Overnight Travel In Maryland

 BALTIMORE, Md. (WBFF) – Weather alert continues through Tuesday due to additional snow, refreeze, and travel issues.

Another burst of snow began falling Monday afternoon.

Maryland State Police have responded 470 crashes between 8 p.m. Sunday and 4 p.m. Monday. (They’re only responsible for state roads.)

They also responded to 1,418 calls for service, and 216 disabled/unattended vehicles.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through early Tuesday north and east of Baltimore.
