Cuba to quarantine travelers amid COVID-19 surge

HAVANA (Reuters) – Most travelers entering Cuba as of Feb. 6 will be quarantined for up to a week, the government announced on Saturday, and flights from the United States and some other countries reduced to no more than one per week per airline.

Tourists will have to remain in hotels at their own expense and residents in special centers free of charge until a test at five days comes back negative.

Travel advisory issued for London, Ont., area Thursday night

If there weren’t already enough reasons to stay at home, a snowstorm set to travel through southwestern Ontario has prompted Environment Canada to issue a winter weather travel advisory.

As forecasters call for a heavy snowfall in southwestern Ontario, Environment Canada is warning of rapidly deteriorating road conditions on Thursday night.

The advisory is for Thursday night and covers London, Komoka, Parkhill and Strathroy, along with eastern and western Middlesex County.

MassDOT advising residents to not travel due to winter storm

(WWLP) – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is advising the public against traveling Monday due to the winter storm.

According to MassDOT, the National Weather Service is forecasting heavy snow rates per hour in the early afternoon on Monday into the evening and snowfall rates may exceed one inch per hour. The very strong winds will lead to blowing snow and greatly reduced visibility during the height of the storm.

Canada’s New Travel Restrictions Impacting Bay Area

TAMPA, Fla. — Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced new restrictions Friday that impacts a lot of people who travel to and from the Bay Area every year. 

Those new restrictions include suspending flights to Mexico and other Caribbean destinations until the end of April. Trudeau said the new restrictions are meant to try and reduce the chances of those two new COVID-19 variants from spreading in the country.

Jim and Bonnie Moon live in Canada and are used to vacationing in the Tampa Bay Area every year, sometimes several times a year. They say they support the new restrictions.
